Box Score Hampden-Sydney, Va. -- University of Lynchburg senior guard Jordan Parham scored a career-high 28 points, but the Hornets fell 81-61 to the No. 1-ranked Tigers of Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday.
A 3-pointer from Piercen Young and a jumper from Jonathan Foust had Lynchburg in it early at 10-7, but a 13-2 run midway through the first had the Tigers up 18.
Lynchburg chipped away at the deficit before halftime and saw Parham make two 3-pointers and three jumpers before the break.
Parham stayed hot after halftime and was at 21 points with 15:31 to play in the game. He finished with 28 on 5-6 (83.3%) shooting from deep, 10-15 (66.7%) shooting from the floor, and added three free throws. His previous season-high was 17 against Spalding, and his previous career-high was 21 against Randolph-Macon in 2022. The Yellow Jackets were also the top-ranked team in the country when Parham had his career day two years ago.
The Hornets battled the Tigers tough throughout the second half and outshot the Tigers narrowly from 3, the floor, and the free throw line, but Hampden-Sydney proved to be too much for Lynchburg in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium.
The Hornets (10-9, 5-5 ODAC) has another tough matchup on the road when they take on No. 10 Randolph-Macon on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
