Lexington, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swimming teams beat Southern Virginia on Saturday in the final dual meets of the season before the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships.
The men beat out the Knights 152-109, and the women were victorious by a wider margin winning 186-73.
Ryan Bambrick, a freshman and the reigning ODAC swimmer of the week, won two events and swam two personal-bests. He won the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke. He placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, going a personal-best 50.39. He was also on the winning 200-yard medley relay that went 1:35.71.
Colton Schnars also won two individual events with a season-best 50.46 in the 100-yard backstroke and a 2:04.3 in the 200-yard backstroke. Schnars joined Bambrick on the winning 200 medley relay.
Miles West won the 100-yard butterfly with a 52.62 and placed second in the 50-yard freestyle going 21.95.
On the women's side, Molly Spano impressed with a first-place finish and a season-best 1:01.08 in the 100 fly, another win in the 200-yard butterfly, and a personal-best during her leg of the 200 free relay. She went 26.23 to start the event as she led off Lynchburg's B relay.
Grace Zalkind won the 200 breast with a 2:40.97 and placed third in the 100 back. Lindsey Hair won the 200 free with a 2:06.50.
Overall, the women won nine events, and the men won eight. On the season, the women won four meets and tied one which were their most dual-meet victories since championing eight meets in 2019-20.
