Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swim teams had a packed house of Hornet fans in the Liberty Natatorium for the squad's Code Red meet against Roanoke on Friday night.
The Hornets' men's and women's squad fell short against the Maroons. Lynchburg finished the night with eight first-place finishes of the 28 total events, including both the men's and women's 200 yard freestyle relays to close out the competition.Â
The first top finish for the Hornets came in the men's 200 yard medley relay as
Maximo Jacquet,
Ryan Bambrick,
Miles West and
Will Kasemeyer powered to a first-place finish, beating the second-place Roanoke quad by nearly four seconds with a time of 1:34.76.
Eliza Fleenor claimed hit the wall first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.40, and following up was
Abigail Schneider with a time of 1:09.82. Fleenor impressed with another first place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.55.
Charlotte Grieve claimed the top spot in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:18.35. In the women's 100 yard freestyle,
Sienna Schmeck earned first place with a time of 54.32. Lynchburg tabbed the top two finishes in the men's 100 yard freestyle as Kasemeyer finished with 49.27 while
Wyatt Dacus followed with a time of 49.71.Â
