Brooks Shines As Hornets Take Five First-Place Finishes On Day Three Of ODAC Championships

Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swim team combined for five top finishes in finals events on day three of the ODAC Championships on Friday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Henry Brooks led the way for Lynchburg with two first-place medals, including an ODAC record time in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.18. Brooks delivered another standout swim in the 100-yard backstroke event, touching in 47.81 for the top time. Sienna Schmeck, Gracie Maughan, and Abigail Schneider each placed first in their respective events. Schmeck touched in 1:55.15 in the 200-yard freestyle, Maughan clocked in a 1:04.49 time in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Schneider earned a time of 4:36.06 in the 400-yard IM.

The team of Henry Brooks, Ryan Bambrick, Owen Howery, and Wyatt Dacus posted a finals time of 1:31.99 and secured a third-place finish in the men's 200-yard medley relay. Lynchburg's women's team of Schmeck, Maughan, Sydney Weeks, and Sophia Schorr placed second overall in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:47.27 time.

Logan Page finished third in the 400-yard IM A final with a time of 4:05.03, while Andrew Fiore was close behind in fourth at 4:05.54. On the women's side in this event, aside from Schneider's first-place finish, Regan Leach and Lindsay Hanks placed fifth and sixth, respectively. 

Lynchburg continued to collect points in the 200-yard freestyle. Jackson Holsten earned fourth place in the A final with a time of 1:41.09. Franco Gastaldi Fossat placed ninth, Connor Marshall finished 12th, and Ahmad Woodson followed in 13th to give the Hornets four scorers in the event.

In the men's 100-yard breaststroke, Ryan Bambrick placed seventh in the A final with a time of 58.13, while Thomas Olson finished 13th overall. Along with Maughan's top finish, Eliza Fleenor produced a strong performance with a 1:05.77 time in the event for fourth place.

Through Friday's events, Lynchburg continued to build momentum heading into the final day of championship competition and sit firmly in second place as a team on both the men's and women's sides. The Hornets prepare for the final day of the ODAC Championships with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
