Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swim teams matched up for a dual meet against Washington and Lee in the Liberty Natatorium and were bested on Saturday afternoon.
Although the Hornets fell in the competition, they came away with four first-place finishes. The women's team found success in the 200 yard freestyle relay, taking first place with a time of 1:40.66. On that four person crew was
Sienna Schmeck,
Savy Borroughs,
Madelyn Foreman, and
Sophia Schorr.
The men's squad was able to clinch three individual top spots.
Erik Witt claimed first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.16.
Ryan Bambrick notched the best finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.17, beating out the Generals' performer by less than a half of a second. Maxi Jacquet rounded out the top performers for Lynchburg with a first place honor in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 52.84.
The Hornets return to action when they travel to Cary, N.C. for the Pacer Invitational, hosted by William Peace. The competition will take place on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23 in the Pullen Aquatic Center.
