Box Score Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team fell to Guilford 5-4 on Friday evening.
In a match that took around four hours to complete, the Hornets held the early lead after doubles. Emma Pinola and Jordan Ottaviano won 8-4 at the second flight, and Ashley Hair and Lauren Pascadlo won on the first court. Tied 7-7, Hair and Pascadlo took the win 7-4 in the tiebreak. Reese McAtee and Elizabeth Horine, on the third court, also played to a tiebreak but fell 9-11.
That No. 3 doubles win proved pivotal for the Quakers. Guilford took points on the top-two singles court as Pascadlo and Hair both fell in three sets. Pinola won her second straight match, downing her opponent in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. McAtee also claimed a singles victory at the fifth flight in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-5. Ottaviano and Horine fell at the fourth and sixth flights, respectively, to close out the match.
Lynchburg (2-12, 1-6 ODAC) visits Shenandoah on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
