York, Pa. -- The University of Lynchburg field hockey team dropped its second contest of the season after falling to No. 8 York, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon on Kinsley Field.
The No. 11 Hornets (4-2) returned from a short break in their season schedule to face a top-ranked Spartan squad. After a scoreless first quarter, York got on the board just over one minute into the second period. The Spartans proceeded to score twice shortly after the halftime intermission and later put two more in the back of the net in the final five minutes of game time. All five of York's goals were scored by different performers.
Lynchburg finished with a 10-2 advantage on penalty corners in the contest. The visiting Hornets were out-shot in the outing by a margin of 16-5. Goalkeeper
Shay Schoones stopped four shots while midfielder
Madison Mark fired two shots and one on frame. Lynchburg now owns a 9-7 lead in the series between the programs since 2002, but trails in road affairs, 4-2.Â
The Hornets look to bounce back tomorrow when they square up against Susquehanna in Sellinsgrove, Pa. on Sunday, September 29 at 1 p.m. The competition will have live stats available and will be streamed live on FloSports.
