Virginia Beach, Va. -- The Hornets dropped their second consecutive game today, falling on the road to Virginia Wesleyan, 59-97.
Freshman forward Jamarcus Brown led the way for Lynchburg with 15 points on four-of-six shooting from the floor and seven-of-seven from the free-throw line.
As a group, Lynchburg struggled to shoot beyond the arc, making two of their 14 attempts. Lynchburg also shot 38% from the field and 57% from the charity stripe on the day.
The Marlins were able to disrupt the Hornet offense all day long, forcing difficult shots along with collecting 10 steals. Virginia Wesleyan won the turnover battle 17-7.
14 different players for Virginia Wesleyan scored on the day. Omari Deveaux finished with a game-high 16 points, connecting on four of his six three-point attempts. Collectively, the Marlins shot 49% from the floor and 38% from deep, with 17 assists.
The Marlin's 97 points were one point shy of tying their season high of 98 against Regent University from earlier this year. On a similar note, this was the third least amount of points Lynchburg has scored this season.
Following today's game, the Hornets fall to 9-7 (3-4) on the year. Lynchburg's next contest will be on the road at Averett this upcoming Wednesday, Jan. 22.
