Galloway, N.J. — The University of Lynchburg field hockey team opened its weekend slate in the Garden State with a 5-2 victory over Stockton on Friday afternoon.
The Hornets (7-2) extended their winning streak to four games, outscoring opponents 20-5 during that span.
Lynchburg struck first in the opening quarter when Fenna den Bieman finished off an assist from Khanyisile Mzizi. Stockton answered just a minute later, however, as Olivia Catalano buried a rebound to even the score at 1-1.
The second quarter belonged to the Ospreys. Lynchburg managed only two shots in the frame, while Brooke Ruiz converted for Stockton to give the hosts a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Hornets flipped the momentum with a dominant second half. Saar Prins tied the game five minutes into the third quarter, and Callie Short followed less than 90 seconds later to put Lynchburg back on top.
The Hornets continued their offensive surge in the fourth, outshooting Stockton 16-3 after halftime. Anna Dorrestijn added an insurance goal before Prins struck again to secure her second multi-goal performance of the season.
Lynchburg returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when it faces No. 20 Rowan (7-3) at noon in Galloway.
