Farmington, Pa. -- The University of Lynchburg women's golf team took its talents up north to compete in The Tartan Invitational at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort from Oct. 6 through Oct. 7, hosted by Carnegie Mellon.
The Hornets placed 12th overall of the 16-team field with a collective score of +54 across the two-day tournament. Emory took the top spot in the event, followed by NYU at second and hosts Carnegie Mellon at third. Of participating ODAC schools, Washington and Lee was the top finisher at fifth place, followed by Randolph-Macon in sixth.
Individually, sophomore
Grace Saunders was the top performer for Lynchburg, earning 29th overall with a final score of six over par. She was solid across both days and shot her best round on day two, finishing two over par. Senior
Lily Rowe was the next top finisher for the Hornets with a +11 final score for 40th overall. The Raleigh, N.C. native put together the best round of 18 for the squad, shooting +1 in the first round of the tournament.
Seniors
Taylor Park and
Gabbie Hollberg placed 55th and 61st, respectively. Park finished strong with a +6 in the final round of the tournament for a +17 overall score. Hollberg was +10 after 18 holes on both days of the invitational, collectively completing the event with a +20 final score. Freshman
Lily Hollberg finished the two-day tournament at +35 for 79th place.
