White Sulfur Springs, W.Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's golf team took home the title from the Greenbrier Intercollegiate Women's Invitational, hosted by Southern Virginia University on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The Hornets held strong atop the leaderboard on both days of the tournament and ultimately solidified the win by five strokes over second-place SVU. Marymount, Wittenberg, and Transylvania rounded out the top five in that respective order. 

Three Lynchburg performers earned spots in the top five of the overall individual standings. Grace Saunders led the way with a second-place finish, completing the tournament at +9 strokes. Saunders concluded the first round at +6 and finished strong with a +3 on day two.

Gabbie Hollberg was close behind with a third-place result. The senior ended the two-round tournament at +11 strokes, finishing day one at +3 and day two at +8. Taylor Park had an impressive performance as well, finishing fifth overall two strokes behind Hollberg. After a +4 first round, Taylor finished round two at +9 for a combined +13 across the 36 holes.

Lily Rowe and Lily Hollberg each found spots inside the top-25 of the field. Rowe was consistent throughout, finishing at +19 overall after rounds of +9 and +10, respectively. Hollberg had a solid day one, finishing at +8 after 18 holes and concluding the tournament at a combined +28.

The women's golf group wraps up the regular season next Monday and Tuesday, April 13 and 14, at the VSGA Women's Intercollegiate Championship at London Downs in Lynchburg, Va.
