Men's Basketball Topples Regent 82-66

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team secured its first home win of 2025, rolling past Regent 82–66 on Saturday afternoon inside Turner Gymnasium.

Jamarcus Brown led the charge for Lynchburg (2–2), posting 25 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal for his first double-double of the season. The sophomore forward's performance comes just days after a career-best 27-point outing, continuing what has quickly become a breakout stretch. Jaden Palmore and Piercen Young also delivered strong contributions, adding 13 and 12 points respectively, each collecting a pair of steals to fuel the defensive effort.

The Hornets set the tone from the opening tip, pouring in 42 first-half points on 51.7% shooting. Their early efficiency built a eight-point halftime cushion—an advantage they would protect the rest of the afternoon. Lynchburg never trailed over the final 25 minutes of play, stringing together stops and timely baskets to keep Regent at arm's length.

A major key to the victory came on the glass, where Lynchburg controlled the boards with a 42–33 advantage. The Hornets crashed the offensive glass for 17 second-chance rebounds, converting them into 21 additional points. Defensively, Lynchburg forced 19 Regent turnovers—including nine steals—that led directly to 23 points in transition or early-clock opportunities.

Running the show at point guard, Jake Hart orchestrated the offense with poise, handing out eight of the team's 15 assists. Derek Ross followed with four assists of his own as Lynchburg assisted on nearly half of its 31 made field goals, showcasing crisp ball movement and inside-out execution.

The Hornets now turn their attention to next week as the head to Pittsburg, Pa for the Chatham University Classic with matchups against Geneva (Pa.) and Chatham on Nov. 21 and 22.
