Ashland, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball team dropped their third consecutive game to Randolph-Macon on the road, 55-80.
John Henderson led the Hornets in scoring off the bench, contributing 12 points on four-of-five shooting from the floor. Piercen Young provided a spark on the defensive end, finishing with seven rebounds, one block, and one steal.
After trading baskets to begin the contest, the Yellow Jackets slowly began to pull away towards the latter stages of the first half. The Randolph-Macon defense was able to disrupt the Lynchburg offense and force miscues repeatedly. In the first 20 minutes, Randolph Macon tallied six of their 12 steals on the afternoon. Keishawn Pulley Jr. collected a career-high five steals with his eight rebounds and eight assists.
After taking a 10-point advantage into the intermission, the Hornets began to fight back and cut into the defecate in the early moments of the second half. However, in the final 10 minutes, the Yellow Jackets seized the momentum once again, going on a 13-2 run to regain a double-digit lead.
The Yellow Jackets continually capitalized on their second-chance opportunities, scoring 23 points off of their 12 offensive rebounds. This, along with their 24 points of turnovers proved to be one of the biggest seportators in this affair.
Four players ended the afternoon in double figures for the Yellow Jackets, led by Jabril Robinson's 18 points. Robinson tallied four of the 11 three-pointers for Randolph-Macon on the day.
The Hornets return home for their next matchup, facing off against the Randolph Wildcats in a Code Red affair on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
