Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swim teams have had a stellar start to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships as both teams are third overall after the second day of competition.
The women's side had earned 159 points so far to slot in third, edging out Randolph-Macon by one point to claim a top three spot. The men have earned 172 through day two and have an eight-point advantage over Roanoke to stay inside the top three.
On Wednesday, the women placed fourth in the 800 free relay, setting a new school relay record with a time of 7:53.70. That crew consisted of Abby Schneider,
Charlotte Grieve,
Regan Leach, and
Sienna Schmeck. The men placed third in the 800 free relay with a program-record-setting time of 6:59.35. That group was
Connor Marshall,
Erik Witt,
Andrew Neculai, and
Adam Fisher. Marshall's 200 time during the relay was also a program record, clocking in at 1:44.15.
Thursday's competitions consisted of preliminary and final rounds. The Hornets claimed three top-five finishes on the women's side in the championship finals, including a second-place spot in the 200 free relay. The men's squad had three finishes within the top five.
Miles West got fourth place in the 50 yard free with a time of 20.70 while the other two came in the 200 free relay (fourth, 1:23.67) and the 400 medley relay.
