Greensboro, N.C. -- Senior
Savy Borroughs was proclaimed the women's swimming ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year, highlighting the Lynchburg award winners of the All-ODAC Swimming Awards for the 2024-25 season.
Throughout her time at Lynchburg, Borroughs has earned two First Team All-ODAC selections, one Second Team All-ODAC honor, a 2022 Va.S.I.D. First Team All-State selection, and a 2023 First Team All-State Sprint Events honor. She has been named to the President's List three times, was a 2024 CSC Academic All-District member, and was the 2023 Female Academic Athlete of the Year. Savy is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.Â
Upon graduation, Savy will receive her degree with a major in Criminology and minors in Criminal Forensics and Spanish. She plans to use her education to gain experience as a crime scene technician, with a long-term goal of becoming a crime scene investigator.
Junior
Caitlyn Moore was announced the Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award winner in a vote of the league's head coaches at the ODAC Championships. The Virginia Beach native earns the honor in her third season with the Hornets. The Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award is bestowed to one ODAC student-athlete each year and is named in honor of the former long-time Sweet Briar College mentor. During her tenure, Kestner exhibited the ideals that best represent the notion and strong values of good sportsmanship that are inherent in NCAA Division III athletics.
Freshman
Sienna Schmeck was the lone Hornet on the women's team tabbed to the All-ODAC First Team. She produced an outstanding performance this past weekend, taking the gold medal in the 200 yard free and 100 yard free. Her time of 1:54.07 in the 200 yard free not only claimed an ODAC title, but also broke the program record for the women's 200 yard free.
Fifth year
Miles West earned a spot on the All-ODAC First Team on the men's side and was the sole Lynchburg performer on the men's side to do so. He took home the silver medal in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 49.62 and was second in the preliminary round for the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 50.67. He was within the top five of all three events he participated in this past weekend.
