Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's tennis teams were each tabbed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Decisions for the preseason poll are voted on by coaches across the ODAC. On the men's side, Lynchburg was given 61 total points to be slotted in seventh. Washington and Lee was selected first overall with 121 points and 11 first-place votes. Averett earned second with 107 points and Virginia Wesleyan was tabbed third with 98 points and one vote for first place. Shenandoah was appointed 95 points to be ranked fourth while Hampden-Sydney was awarded 72 points to round out the top five.

For the women, the Hornets were awarded 53 points to be ranked ninth overall. Washington and Lee was again the top-ranked squad with 144 points and 12 first-place votes. Averett came in at second with 129 points and one first-place vote, while Sweet Briar was tabbed with 121 points. Shenandoah was named the fourth-ranked team with 101 points with Randolph close behind at five with 100 points.

Last season, the men's tennis crew earned 10 wins and finished with a positive 5-4 record in conference play. The Hornets made it to the ODAC quarterfinals before dropping to Averett. The women's squad has three new freshman on the team this year in Harper Dodd, Kamerin East, and Kayla Kosiorek, and two upperclass additions in senior Elora Grochowski and Maria Caro.
