Pinehurst, N.C. -- Senior
Eddie Coffren V of the University of Lynchburg men's golf team finished the Tiger Invitational at five under par to place second overall and help his team place sixth out of 20 NCAA Division III schools competing at the event.
In the two day tournament, Coffren ended at three under after the first round of 18. Starting on the back nine, he began with a birdie on hole 10. He completed the first nine holes at one over par. He picked it up on the front nine, earning four birdies to finish the first round at -3. The senior followed that up with a -2 performance in the second round, nailing four birdies and concluding the round with just two bogies.
Junior
Simon Burgos was the second-best finisher for the Hornets, ending the tournament at one over par to place 17th overall. After finishing the first round at two over par, he closed out the second round at one under with five birdies and four bogies. Junior
Alan Van Asch finished +2 in each round of the invitational to finish at four over par, placing 29th overall.
After ending the first round of the event nine over par, freshman
Dylan Olinger finished the second round at just two over par to conclude the invitational at +9. Sophomore
Ben Chamberlin was the fifth and final Hornet performer, who concluded the invitational at +22.
Next up for the men's golf team is the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Jekyll Island, Ga., spanning from Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23.
