Prattville, Ala. -- The University of Lynchburg men's golf team competed in the Capitol City Classic at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill GC, finishing ninth overall with a three-round total of 890 (+26).
The Hornets opened the tournament with a +4 round, followed by a +3 showing in round two, before closing at +19 in the final round.
Ben Chamberlin led Lynchburg, finishing tied for 13th overall with a three-round score of 218 (+2). He opened with a 72 (+0), followed by a 68 (-4) in the second round, and closed with a 78 (+6).
Alan Van Asch was next for the Hornets, placing tied for 26th overall at 222 (+6). He posted rounds of 76, 72, and 74, highlighted by an eagle on a 530 yard par five in his final round.
Dylan Olinger placed tied for 30th overall with a three-round score of 224 (+8). He posted rounds of 71, 75, and 78.
Cooper Mizelle finished tied for 59th overall at 230 (+14). He recorded rounds of 73, 77, and 80.
Dylan Johnson rounded out the Lynchburg lineup, placing 76th overall with a 236 (+20) total. He turned in rounds of 83, 76, and 77.
Huntington (-3) took first place as a team, followed by Methodist (+2), Carnegie Mellon (+11), Piedmont (+19) and Sewanee (+21) rounding out the top five.
The Hornets resume action at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. next Monday and Tuesday, April 13-14.
