Savannah, Ga. -- The University of Lynchburg men's golf team kicked off the spring season with the Savannah Invitational, hosted by Berry College, on March 3 and 4, finishing 16th of 20 teams at the event.
The Hornets had
Eddie Coffren V finish the highest on the leaderboard of the five performers to attend. He completed the three-round competition tied for 24th overall with a +2 finish. On day one, Coffren completed the first 18 at two under par and followed up with a performance of one over on the second set of 18. He closed out day three at three over.
Simon Burgos was the next top finisher for Lynchburg, ending tied for 30th at four over par. After a +4 finish in the first round, he improved in each succeeding round. Burgos ended round two at +1 and had the best performance of any Hornet in the third and final round, finishing one under par.
Although
Ben Chamberlin was +6 and +5 in rounds one and two, respectively, he finished strong with a +1 on the final round of 18 to finish 72nd.
Alan Van Asch finished at +14 through the two-day tournament. He ended at +7 on round one, improved in round two at +2 and finished the third round at +5.
Cooper Mizelle finished each round at +6, +8, and +5 to conclude at +19 for the tournament.
The Hornets are set to take the course next at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Hampden-Sydney, on Sunday March 9 and Monday, March 10 in Pinehurst, N.C.
