Memphis, Tenn. --Â The Lynchburg Hornets men's golf team concluded their regular season with a strong second-place finish at the Cochran Collegiate Invitational. Senior
Eddie Coffren V led the way individually, earning runner-up honors with a +6 performance across all three rounds.
Lynchburg posted a final team score of +40, with round-by-round scores of +11, +14, and +15. The Hornets finished just five strokes behind first-place Oglethorpe and nine ahead of third-place Babson.
The Hornets led all teams in par-5 scoring, shooting just one over on those holes. They also placed third in par-3 scoring and fourth on par 4s. The team recorded 27 birdies—fourth-most in the field—and was one of just four teams to notch an eagle.
Cooper Mizelle delivered a strong performance, finishing sixth overall at +9. Alan Van Asch and Joey Easmeil each carded a +13, tying for 17th place.
Coffren opened the tournament in style, posting a -1 in round one—his best score of the event—which included the Lynchburg eagle on hole 16. The Owings, Md. native was particularly sharp on the front nine throughout the tournament, finishing a combined -2 across those holes.
With the regular season complete, the Hornets now shift their focus to the postseason as they prepare for the ODAC Championship in Greensboro, N.C., beginning Sunday, April 27.
