Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's outdoor track & field squad headlined the 2025 outdoor VaSID team, notching three major awards and landing five on All-State teams. The honors were highlighted with
Betsy Mohnkern and
Allison Dell sharing the award for the 2025 Track Athlete of the Year, and
Kacey Kelly sharing the title for Field Athlete of the Year.
Mohnkern collected First Team All-State recognition for her performance in the hurdles this season, clocking a 14.18 in the 100m to finish in eighth place at the NCAA championships, a day after setting her outdoor personal best with a 14.04 time. The grad student earned a First-Team All-American honors for the first time in her career in the final collegiate race.
Dell tabbed a First Team All-State selection in the distance column after tabbing a 35:36.14 in the 10,000m. The senior received Second Team All-American honors for placing within the top 16 at the NCAA Championships.
Kelly adds this award to her multitude of honors this season, including a First Team All-American nod. At the NCAA championships, Kelly recorded a sixth-place finish in the women's triple jump, setting a 40' 2¾" (12.26m) mark for a personal best. The multi-sport student-athlete received First Team honors for jumps during her junior campaign.
The Hornets added to their collection of VaSID honors, earning two selections to the Second Team as well.
Hannah Edwards represented Lynchburg on the Second Team for Mid-Distance. The sophomore from Smithfield, Va. finished the 800m with a time of 2:20.90 for 21st place in her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut.
Kenzie Swicegood notched a Second Team selection as well in the Throw collum. At the ODAC championships, Swicegood finished third in the women's discus (39.15m or 128' 5') and fifth in the women's shot put (11.07m or 36' 4"). She also contributed to the Hornet's point total in the hammer throw, cracking a 40.40m (132' 6") throw for eighth.
