Lynchburg Headlines Men's Outdoor Track & Field VaSID All-State Honors

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's track & field program nearly swept the major awards for the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-State Team, claiming four of the five major awards and landing seven on All-State teams.

Following a national championship in the 5,000-meter run, Chasen Hunt was selected as the Track Athlete of the Year. His historic junior campaign saw him claim the NCAA Division III all-time record in the 5K with a time of 13:41.96 at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational and he clocked a four-minute mile that places third on the NCAA DIII all-time list at The Hill City Twilight.

Standout first-year performer Tristan Wright earned the Track Rookie of the Year accolade. Wright sprinted his way to a qualification for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in the 100-meter dash in just his first collegiate season, earning Second-Team All-American status. Additionally, he claimed the ODAC Championship title in the 100M and set a program record time of 10.39 at the event.

Freshman phenom Jamarcus Brown jumped his way to the Field Rookie of the Year honor, setting a new school record in the high jump with a mark of 2.11M (6'11"). In his first year with the track & field program, he won the high jump at the ODAC Championship and placed fifth in the high jump at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships.

In his final season with the Hornets, Jim Sprecher was named the VaSID Coach of the Year. He helped guide Lynchburg to a commanding victory in the ODAC Championship with 273 total points, the second-highest team score in meet history. His squad had seven athletes qualify for the NCAA DIII National Championships, and the team left with two individual national champions (Chasen Hunt, 5K; Tor Hotung-Davidsen, 1,500M) and a seventh-place finish.

Lynchburg's seven performers on All-State teams were the most of any school in the state. Six of the student-athletes found themselves on the First Team while Jaylen Jones landed on the Second Team. Below is the complete list of major award winners and team selections.
