Forest, Va. -- Following a stellar performance against Mary Washington this past weekend, University of Lynchburg men's swimmer
Jackson Holsten was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Holsten has produced high-level performances all season and earns his first ODAC Player of the Week nod of his young collegiate career. Against Mary Washington this weekend, He delivered three individual first-place finishes in freestyle events and a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay.Â
The freshman cruised to a 10:25.06 in the 1000-yard freestyle, then just two events later claimed a time of 1:46.08 in the 200-yard freestyle. Towards the end of the meet, he blew by the competition in the 500-yard freestyle finishing in 4:55.79, nearly seven seconds faster then the next closest finisher. He wrapped up the meet leading off the 400-freestyle relay of Lynchburg's B team that placed third in the event with a time of 3:16.47.
Each of his times in the individual freestyle events are good enough to be within the top-10 times in Lynchburg program history. His 1000-yard time places seventh in the Lynchburg record book, his 500-yard time is ninth, and his 200-yard time is sixth.Â
The men's and women's swim teams return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31 at noon for the Battle of the Burg at the Liberty Natatorium.
