Box Score ASHLAND, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team was unable to overcome a strong second-half performance from Randolph-Macon, falling 85-60 in ODAC action Saturday evening.
After a competitive opening half, the Yellow Jackets used an efficient shooting display and control of the paint to pull away after the break. Randolph-Macon shot 54.2% from the field for the game and outscored the Hornets 42-23 in the second half to secure the road victory.
Junior forward Jamarcus Brown paced Lynchburg with a game-high 21 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field while adding six rebounds. Jayson Easton chipped in nine points, knocking down three triples, while Michael Gray provided a spark off the bench with eight points on 3-of-8 shooting.
Lynchburg stayed within striking distance early, trailing 43-37 at halftime after shooting 53.8% from the floor in the opening period. However, cold shooting in the second half proved costly, as the Hornets finished the game at 38.3% overall and just 5-of-21 from beyond the arc.
Randolph-Macon was led by Keishawn Pulley Jr., who scored 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a 3-of-5 effort from the perimeter. Malcolm Hodges added eight points on 4-of-5 shooting, while the Yellow Jackets dominated the glass with a 40-28 rebounding advantage and scored 44 points in the paint.
Despite the setback, Lynchburg forced 11 turnovers and dished out 15 assists, highlighted by four assists from Jake Hart and three steals from Elijah Thomas.Â
The Hornets will look to regroup and bounce back as ODAC play continues at home against Shenandoah for Alumni Day on Saturday, Jan. 10.Â
