Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams prepare to send athletes to Boston University, Tufts University, Liberty University and Roanoke College on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 for an action-packed weekend just two weeks ahead of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships.
While several athletes rested last weekend, the Hornets have posted program records in back-to-back meets and currently boast seven athletes in national qualifying positions.
A handful of distance athletes will make the trek to Boston University and Tufts University to face elite competition from across the nation, while the remainder will compete against local opponents. The Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, hosted by Liberty University, will feature many Division I teams, and Roanoke College's Joe LaRocco Invitational primarily sports a Division III field.
BU Valentine Invitational (Boston)
Seven athletes for the Lynchburg men's team will compete at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 13, a facility known for hosting a slew of national and world records for distance runners.
The facility features a 200-meter banked track with a seating capacity of 1,500.. Each distance event will host hundreds of athletes, including several who run professionally.
First-year sprinter Parker Marshall will also join the Hornets as he competes in the men's 400m dash. In addition, Chasen Hunt will aim to register a nationally qualifying men's 3,000m mark, while sophomore Alex Jordan looks to improve his men's 5,000m time after posting a program record earlier in the season (14:19.15).
Tufts Cupid Challenge (Medford, Mass.)
Following the BU Valentine Invitational, the team's focus will shift to Tufts University as Lynchburg prepares to race the men's distance medley relay. The Hornets won the DMR national title in 2024 and secured second place at the 2025 NCAA Championships, weeks after posting a national qualifying time at Tufts.
Randy White, Parker Marshall, Ryan Warner and Chasen Hunt will race Saturday's DMR, which will commence after the 60m dash trials. The meet will operate on a rolling schedule.
The meet will be held at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center, which boasts a 200-meter indoor flat track.
Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Lynchburg, Va.)
Many athletes vying for national marks will travel across town on Friday to face Division I opponents at Liberty University. The Hornets have already traveled to Liberty three times earlier in the season, beginning with the Liberty Kickoff in early December.
Running events begin at 1:40 p.m. on Friday and 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, with a balanced slate across both days. Field events begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
ESPN+ will stream the meet with a pair of four-hour broadcasts throughout the weekend.
Joe LaRocco Invitational (Salem, Va.)
The remaining slate of athletes will travel to the Kerr-Cregger Field House to face several local opponents at the Joe LaRocco Invitational. Roanoke College will host the ODAC Indoor Championships, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The meet is a one-day event, beginning with the women's DMR, women's weight throw and women's high jump at 10:00 a.m.
