3 Program Records Fall in Historic Weekend for Indoor Track & Field

Boston – Alex Jordan, Rylee Turner and Lamont Victoria submitted program-record performances as the Lynchburg Indoor Track & Field teams competed across four locations in the Hornets' busiest weekend of the season.

Along with the three school records, Lynchburg now boasts eleven athletes or relay teams that occupy national qualifying positions with two weeks until the conference championships. Victoria, Chasen Hunt and Micah Leech own one of the nation's top-five marks for their respective events.

Program Records

After registering the men's 5,000m program record in January, Alex Jordan improved his indoor personal best by eight seconds with a 14:11.47 performance in Boston. The sophomore, who earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week laurels twice to begin the season, maintained consistent splits throughout the race and accelerated for the final two laps.

Closer to home, Rylee Turner and Lamont Victoria secured program records in the 200m dash at Liberty University.

Turner toppled Aniya Seward's previous record of 25.96 from the 2024 season, clocking 25.83 to post her third school record of the season. In back-to-back weeks, Turner has also clinched the women's 300m indoor record, along with competing as a member of the women's 4x400m relay team that submitted a school record last weekend.

In the men's 200m, Victoria shattered the previous record of 21.78 with a 21.52 performance to win the open section by three-tenths of a second. The senior transfer has earned a podium finish in an event eight times throughout his first season with the Hornets.

BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational

In the men's 3,000m, Chasen Hunt posted a season-best 8:02.58 against stellar Division I competition to finish 46th in the open 3,000m field. Hunt's time was the third-fastest in Division III this season, although the senior has posted 7:56.92 in the past.

Jack Weddle improved his mile PR by three seconds, crossing the line in 4:14.86. Danny Rockey secured a 4:20.54 finish.

Tufts Cupid Challenge

A day later, the Lynchburg distance medley relay squad of Randy White, Parker Marshall, Ryan Warner and Chasen Hunt produced a 10:08.82 result, which was reduced to 10:00.67 since the team raced on a flat track. With the converted time, the Hornets occupy 11th in the DIII standings following the weekend's performances.

Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

Kaitlyn Ruiz earned her best indoor 400m performance of the season with a 58.18 mark to finish 28th at Liberty. Ruiz improved to third on Lynchburg's all-time performance list with her 400m season best.

Kacey Kelly placed 10th in the women's triple jump (38' 2¼" or 11.64m), while in the men's 800m, Jake Sisk (1:57.22) and Matthew Kane (1:57.43) finished eighth and 10th, respectively.

In the men's high jump, Lamont Victoria cleared the 6' 7" (2.01m) bar to finish sixth in the invite flight. Chris Watkins corralled a personal-best mark in the men's pole vault with a 14' 3½" (4.36m) performance for seventh.

To round out the action from Liberty, Demetri Hinton supplied a pair of top-10 performances. Hinton claimed first in the men's long jump lower section with a 22' 9¼" (6.94m) leap and seventh in the men's triple jump upper section (47' 2¼" or 14.38m).

Joe LaRocco Invitational

To open the day, the Lynchburg women's distance medley relay squad of Sidney Sindt, Samaria Little, Kaitlyn Ruiz and Mya Baker earned first place with a 13:30.90 performance.

Winter Tietjen continued her impressive rookie campaign as a dual-sport athlete with a 5:18.56 personal best in the women's mile. Tietjen's time sits just four seconds outside the program's top-10 list, despite the race being Tietjen's second-ever mile.

On the men's side, Aidan Riggle claimed the individual victory in the men's mile with a 4:25.27 personal best, while Logan Amis followed behind for fifth with a 4:30.88 result.

Antaveon Steele cruised to fourth in the men's 60m hurdles, clocking 8.57 in prelims and 8.71 in the final. In the men's 400m dash, Noah Austin (52.81) and Blake Henson (53.40) crossed the line in seventh and ninth, respectively.

In the women's 800m, Annalise Williams secured ninth place with a 2:30.36 performance in the field of 43 athletes. For the men, Joey John registered 2:01.53 for third place, while Justin Park finished in 2:02.19 for fourth.

To conclude the weekend, Delaney Saulsbury posted an 18-second PR to finish second in the women's 3,000m, sealing a 10:22.75 performance. Georgie Lanham registered 11:04.29 for seventh in the field.

Lynchburg will compete at the Rockingham Collegiate Open hosted by Bridgewater College on Friday, Feb. 20 as the team prepares for the postseason.
