Forest, Va. -- After a phenomenal showing in the Heptathlon at the Doc Hale Invite this past weekend,
Micah Leech was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Leech claims his third ODAC Athlete of the Week accolade this indoor season following his performance in Blacksburg. The junior became the second Lynchburg athlete in program history to surpass 5,000 points in the Heptathlon, reaching a personal-best 5,086 and securing his place even further for the second-best point total in the school record books.
The Yorktown, Va. product placed between fourth and eighth in every event for the heptathlon of a field including many NCAA division I athletes. Additionally, he set collegiate-best marks in the 1,000m (2:54.55) and pole vault (14' 7¼" or 4.45m).
The Hornets return to action on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 with athletes competing at Boston University, Tufts University, Liberty University and Roanoke College.
