Three Hornets Awarded ODAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors

Forest, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg track & field team had three student-athletes earn Old Dominion Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Alex Jordan and Lamont Victoria were selected as the Men's ODAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week accolades, respectively, while Kacey Kelly was named the Women's ODAC Field Athlete of the Week. Jordan and Victoria both set program records in their respective events this past weekend, Jordan in the 5,000-meter run and Victoria in the 200-meter dash.

Jordan performed at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational and improved his own record in the 5,000m, which he previously set earlier this month. The sophomore ran a 14:11.47 to improve his time by eight seconds. He now claims his third ODAC Track Athlete of the Week title of the season.

At the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty University, Victoria crushed the previous school record in the 200m, finishing in 21.52 to beat out the previous record of 21.78. Additionally, Victoria cleared a 6' 7" (2.01m) mark in the high jump to finish sixth in the invite flight and first among DIII competitors.

Kelly produced impressive results at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational as well, competing in the triple jump and long jump. In the triple jump upper flight, she placed 10th overall and first among division III athletes with a mark of 11.64m (38'2.25"). In the long jump lower flight, she notched 5.13m (16'10") for 19th in the field top of DIII performers.

Lynchburg next competes at the Rockingham Collegiate Open, hosted by Bridgewater, on Friday, Feb. 20 before the ODAC Indoor Championship in Roanoke, Va. on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1.
