Forest, Va. -- Following a record-setting performance at the Brant Tolsma Invitational this past weekend, sophomore
Alex Jordan received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week accolade, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Jordan took down a long-standing school record previously held by the infamous Ricky Flynn in the men's 5,000m event. The Forest, Va. product smashed the program record by nine seconds with an incredible 14:19.15 time. He improved his personal-best by 19 seconds and now owns the seventh-quickest time in DIII this season.Â
The sophomore's time was the best at the invitational of Division III athletes and was fourth out of the entire field, trailing just three North Carolina runners. This ODAC Athlete of the Week honor is Jordan's second of the season. He previously won the ODAC Track Athlete of the Week award on Jan. 13 of this year.Â
