Alan Van Asch concluded his illustrious collegiate campaign with a top-five finish at the NCAA championship.
Van Asch finished the NCAA Championship at 6-under-par with a 281 across four rounds, closing his week with rounds of 71, 67, 70 and 73.
Van Asch opened the championship with an even-par 71, carding a steady first round to settle into the national field. He made the turn at 2-under after birdies on Nos. 7 and 8, but finished the back nine at 2-over to close the day at even par.
Van Asch delivered his best round of the championship on the second day, firing a 5-under 67 to move to 5-under for the tournament. After playing the front nine at 1-under, he surged on the back nine with four birdies across a six-hole stretch, including red numbers on Nos. 13, 14, 15 and 16.
Van Asch continued his strong week with a 2-under 70 in the third round, pushing his tournament score to 7-under. After making the turn at 1-over, he closed with a 3-under back nine, highlighted by an eagle on No. 11 and a birdie on No. 18.
Van Asch wrapped up the championship with a 1-over 73, finishing the week at 6-under with a four-round total of 281. Despite a 3-over front nine, he steadied himself down the stretch with birdies on Nos. 10 and 14 to play the back nine at 2-under.
In his second year at the helm, head coach
Allen Smith helped propel his second straight top-five performer at the NCAA Championship, after Eddie Coffren took first place in 2025.
