INDIANAPOLIS, IN. --Â University of Lynchburg senior golfer
Alan Van Asch has been awarded an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 12-15.
Van Asch is one of 10 individual performers to receive an at-large selection to compete at the NCAA Championships at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., hosted by Oglethorpe University and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
A total of 225 participants will compete in the 2026 championships, made up of 43 teams and 10 individual qualifiers who are not part of a team. Automatic bids were awarded to 34 conferences, while the remaining nine spots were filled through at-large selections, including institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that did not win their conference title, as well as independent institutions. The 10 individual qualifiers were chosen from the pool of players who did not earn a spot with a team.
The Raleigh, N.C., native adds this accolade to his long list of accomplishments during his collegiate tenure, including a First Team All-ODAC selection this season.
Last year, Lynchburg's Eddie Coffren IV claimed the 2025 NCAA Individual National Championship, while the Hornets notched a seventh-place team finish.
