LC Field Hockey Coasts to 8-0 Win Over Stevenson
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore attack Kelli Williams and freshman attack Katie Kline each scored twice Saturday to lead the ninth-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team to an 8-0 victory over Stevenson University in non-conference action.
The Hornets opened the scoring 5:20 into the game as Kline scored an unassisted goal. Lindsay Leonard followed with a score at 11:34 and Williams found the back of the cage less than a minute later - both assisted by Kristina Morris. Morris netted a goal herself soon thereafter from Shelly Milks and Melanie Tenney capped the first half scoring by capitalizing on a penalty stroke.
Williams gave the Hornets a 6-0 lead with a score at 38:19 and Milks followed with an unassisted tally two minutes later. Kline posted the game's final tally with 18 minutes remaining.
Milks and Morris each finished with a goal and two assists. The Hornets out-shot their guests 47-4 and held an 11-2 edge in penalty corners. Kelsi Zimmerman and Katelynn Difiore combined to make 22 saves in net for Stevenson (4-2).
The Hornets (5-1) host St. Mary's College (MD) at 2 p.m. Sunday.
