Greensboro, N.C. -- University of Lynchburg's men's golf team played its way to a ninth-place team finish in a tough field at Guilford's O'Briant Jensen Memorial early this week. The Hornets logged a team score of 600 (297-303) behind sophomore Eddie Coffren V's top-25 finish.
Coffren shot a 3-over-par 74 to open the tournament Monday before coming back with a Tuesday 75 to place in a tie for 23rd. Teammates Alan Van Asch (76-74–150) and Harrison Smith (73-77–150) finished a stroke behind in a tie for 29th. Smith totaled a team-best four birdies in the team's low round of the tournament, a 2-over 73 to start things off Monday.
Junior Andrew Watson checked in a stroke behind his teammates at 74-77–151, and senior Gray Wiley rounded out the Hornet lineup at 79-80–159 to place in a tie for 71st.
The tournament wrapped up the fall schedule for the Hornets, who played one of the toughest slates in NCAA Division III men's golf. Lynchburg was ranked 30th in the most recent Golfstat team ratings.
