Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's golf team concluded its initial fall tournament of the 2025-26 academic year at the Gate City Invitational, hosted by Greensboro College at Forest Oaks Country Club.
The Hornets finished the three-round invitational in 16th place overall as a squad.
Cooper Mizelle was the top performer for Lynchburg, placing 27th overall individually with a final score of four over par. After opening up play at +3 after 18 holes, he rallied to an even score in the second round and one over in the third round.
Alan Van Asch was the next top finisher for the Hornets, placing 60th overall at +11. The senior had the best single round of anyone on the squad, closing out the final round of the tournament with four birdies and one bogie to finish three under.
Simon Burgos concluded close behind Van Asch at 68th place with a final score 13 over par.
Dylan Olinger placed 78th overall, shooting his best round on the final 18 with a 74, two over par.
Ben Chamberlin rounded out Lynchburg performers at 83rd with a +18 score after three rounds.
The Hornets will continue their fall slate next week with a trip to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. for the NCAA DIII Championship Preview from Sunday, Sept. 21 through Tuesday, Sept. 23.
