Jekyll Island, Ga. -- University of Lynchburg men's golf junior Andrew Watson tied for 20th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate on Sunday.
Watson helped the Hornets to a 16th-place finish in the 30-team field. Lynchburg competed at the Pine Lakes Course, a 6,700-yard layout at Jekyll Island Golf Club and totaled an 894 (298-299-297) over the three rounds.
Watson (73-71-73--217) earned his second top-20 finish of the 2022-23 calendar. He previously came in 12th at the Gate City Invitational in September.
The Mountain View product made an eagle on the par-5 first on Day 1. Watson tied for the eighth-best performance on the par-5s in the tournament. He made seven birdies in rounds 2 and 3. In Round 2, he shot a 71 and turned in 13 pars.
Harrison Smith (73-75-76--217) tied for 61st. He birdied 10 times and shot -3 on his final 11 holes of Round 3.
Eddie Coffren V (75-77-74--226) made nine birdies. He and Alan Van Asch (77-76-74--227) shot 74s on Sunday to help them move up 16 and 17 spots in the leaderboard, respectively. Van Asch tied for 79th.
Elijah Moore (81-78-81--240) rounded out Lynchburg's lineup over spring break and made back-to-back birdies to end his second round on Saturday.
The Hornets will travel to Camp Lejeune, N.C. for the 50th Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate beginning Friday, March 31.
