Camp Lejeune, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's golf team came in 10th out of 20 teams at the 50th Camp Lejeune Championship Sunday.
The Hornets (299-307-303--909) were led by Andrew Watson on the 6,851-yard Paradise Point Gold Course.
Watson (74-73-75--222) came in a tie for 15th. The junior made five birdies in Round 2 and made an eagle on the 18th hole Sunday. Watson owned the best score on the par-5 holes in the tournament shooting -8 on the long holes.
Alan Van Asch (75-75-77--227) also made a flurry of birdies on Day 2 with four. He made nine in total across the three rounds and tied for 35th.
Tate Corbett (71-79-77--227) tied with Van Asch in 35th and also made an eagle. The freshman carded his eagle in Round 1 and made 14 pars in Round 3.
Harrison Smith (79-80-74--233) tied for 48th. He moved up 12 positions in the final round shooting +2 with two birdies.
Eddie Coffren V was in the original starting lineup, but Elijah Moore (x-87-81-168) was called down to North Carolina as a replacement. Moore dod not play Friday but played in the final two rounds.
The Hornets had the fifth-best score on the par-3 holes with a 3.48. Guilford led the way at 3.33.
The Hornets do not compete for 21 days. Lynchburg's next test will be the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. beginning Sunday, April 23.
