Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's golf team is tied with Averett for third place headed into the third round at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship.
The Hornets shot 298 on Day 2 and are 11 shots off first-place Guilford. Washington and Lee is in second place, and Averett shot five strokes better than Lynchburg in Round 2 and moved up one spot to tie the Hornets. Since Averett got into the clubhouse first on Monday, the Cougars will be in the final pairings Tuesday.
In opposite fashion from Sunday, the Hornets played much better on the back-9 compared to the first nine holes.
Alan Van Asch shot -3 on the back-9 and ended the day even. He is in eighth place and +3 for the tournament.
Eddie Coffren V stayed in the team lead with a 74 on Day 2. He played nearly-perfect golf on the back-9 with two birdies and seven pars. He stayed in fifth place headed into Round 3.
Andrew Watson is tied for ninth after carding a 75 Monday, and Tate Corbett scored for Lynchburg with a 77.
Lynchburg tees off with Roanoke and Hampden-Sydney beginning at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25.
