Forest, Va.— The Lynchburg field hockey team collected its third and fourth weekly awards of the season, as Shay Schoones and Danielle Coon were both recognized by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Monday, Oct. 13. Schoones was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Coon earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Lynchburg picked up two key conference victories this past week. On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Hornets cruised to a dominant 13-0 win on the road against Sweet Briar.

In that victory, Coon scored twice — her second multi-goal performance of the season — bringing her season total to seven. Meanwhile, Schoones earned her third shutout of the year, turning away every shot she faced.

The Hornets carried that momentum into the weekend, earning a 2-1 road win over No. 15 Shenandoah on Saturday.

Schoones was instrumental in the ranked victory, making eight saves — her second-highest total of the season. On the offensive side, Coon continued her hot streak with both of Lynchburg's goals, marking back-to-back multi-goal outings.

Coon currently ranks tied for first in the ODAC in goals (9), third in assists (5), and second in total points (23), trailing only teammate Anna Dorrestijn (24).
