Lynchburg, Va. --The Lynchburg Hornets return to Shellenberger Field for a Code Red matchup against Randolph-Macon at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
The Hornets (9-3) have dominated the series between the two programs, winning 32 of the past 33 meetings. Lynchburg enters the contest on a 10-game winning streak over the Yellow Jackets (8-3), dating back to 2015. Last year's matchup ended in a 2-0 victory for the Hornets in Ashland, Va.
Randolph-Macon arrives in the Hill City riding a four-game winning streak. In their most recent outing, the Yellow Jackets earned a 1-0 overtime win over Sweet Briar. The team boasts the top scoring defense in the ODAC, allowing just 0.73 goals per game. Junior goalkeeper Valentina Ambrogi-Torres has been a key piece of that success, leading the conference in save percentage (0.904), shutouts (4), and goals-against average (0.725).
Meanwhile, the Hornets return home after their longest road stretch of the season -- a four-game swing in which they went 3-1, highlighted by a crucial 2-1 win over then-No. 15 Shenandoah.
Junior forward Danielle Coon and junior goalkeeper Shay Schoones are both coming off ODAC Player of the Week honors for their performances that helped Lynchburg remain unbeaten in conference play. The Hornets currently boast the best goal differential in the ODAC, averaging a league-leading 4.17 goals per game with a +2.92 margin.
The Hornets will remain at home for the next contest, taking on Bridgewater (5-6) on homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m.
