Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's and women's golfers
Alan Van Asch and
Lily Rowe were appointed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Van Asch claimed first place in the VGSA Intercollegiate Invitational this past week, winning the event by eight strokes over the next top finisher. The senior earned his first collegiate tournament win at the invitational hosted at Lake Chesdin Golf Club and was the only performer to complete a round below par, concluding the first round with 69 strokes (three under par). He finished out the two-round tournament with a 73 to convincingly take first.
Rowe shares this week's ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week with Washington and Lee's Berkely Bundy, who finished alongside the Lynchburg senior within the top-10 of the 79 person field at the Historic Triangle Classic, hosted at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. Rowe tied for 10th at six over par, concluding the second and final round of the tournament with just one stroke over par to secure a top-10 placement.
Van Asch represents the first Hornet men's golfer to be awarded the ODAC Golfer of the Week accolade since
Eddie Coffren V was named to the award this past March. Rowe is the first women's golfer for Lynchburg to earn the honor since Emily Brubaker in April 2024.
The women's golf team has wrapped up its fall slate of competitions, while the men's crew looks ahead to its final tournament of the fall season: The Cardinal Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. from Monday, Oct. 27 through Tuesday, Oct. 28.
