Forest, Va. -- For the second consecutive week and second occasion this season, junior forward
Anna Dorrestijn has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Dorrestijn helped guide the Hornets to a 1-1 record over a challenging two-game stretch, continuing her strong offensive form as one of the league's most dynamic scorers. The Driehuis, Netherlands, native totaled two goals, one assist, and seven shots across the week's contests.
In Lynchburg's 5-2 victory over Stockton, Dorrestijn set up the eventual game-winner, finding Callie Short in stride for her third assist of the year. She later capped the Hornets' scoring in the fourth quarter, slicing through the defense to net her seventh goal of the season and put the game out of reach.
Less than 24 hours later, Dorrestijn struck again on the road at No. 20 Rowan, capitalizing on a fast-break opportunity to notch her eighth goal of the season, a total that currently ranks second in the ODAC.
With this week's recognition, Dorrestijn now owns four career ODAC Player of the Week honors, and this marks the first time in her career she has earned multiple selections in a single season. Her continued production has been a driving force behind Lynchburg's high-powered attack as the Hornets push deeper into conference play.
