Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg field hockey team is set for a competitive 2025 season, featuring matchups with five teams that finished last year ranked in the national top 25 and six programs that reached the 2024 NCAA tournament.

The Hornets will open the regular season on the road in Granville, Ohio, with back-to-back games against Denison and DePauw on Aug. 30-31. They'll close out a three-game road swing with a trip to Bates on Sept. 7 in Lewiston, Maine.

Lynchburg returns to the Hill City for its home opener on Shellenberger Field against Mary Washington on Sept. 10. The Hornets then face Ursinus in a neutral-site matchup on Sept. 13 in Amherst, Va. One week later, Susquehanna visits Shellenberger on Sept. 20 for a rematch of last season's 2-1 NCAA tournament overtime contest.

Lynchburg heads to Amherst for a second neutral-site game against York (Pa.) on Sept. 27, then returns home to host Sewanee, The University of the South, on Sept. 28.

The Hornets' longest road trip of the year begins Oct. 4 in Galloway, N.J., with games at Stockton and Rowan on back-to-back days. Conference play begins shortly after, with a neutral-site contest against Sweet Briar on Oct. 8 in Amherst and a matchup at Shenandoah, the defending ODAC champions, on Oct. 11 in Winchester.

Head coach Jenni Relaford's squad returns to Shellenberger Field for a two-game ODAC homestand, beginning Oct. 15 against Randolph-Macon for a Code Red contest and continuing Oct. 18 against Bridgewater for Homecoming.

Lynchburg's final two road contests follow: Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 22 and Washington and Lee on Oct. 25.

The Hornets close the regular season at home, hosting Roanoke on Oct. 29 and Eastern Mennonite on Nov. 1 for Senior Day.
