Fredericksburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team had four student-athletes take their talents to the University of Mary Washington for the 2025 ITA DIII Women's Southeast Regional Championships from Sept. 27 through Sept. 29, achieving some solid victories in the singles and doubles events.
The Hornets competed against top-tier athletes across the NCAA Division III landscape from the Southeast region. In singles,
Ashley Hair earned an 8-4 victory against Bridgewater's Sarah Slagle in the round of 16 B3 draw. In the consolation round,
Isadora Lima earned an emphatic victory over St. Mary's College of MD's Zoe Wilson, 8-1, in the B2 draw.
Additionally,
Maggie Wonderling advanced to the quarterfinal round before being nipped by Madison McCarty of Mary Washington, 8-3, whileÂ
Kayla Kosiorek competed in the high-level B1 draw and fell to Haverford's Abhishree Menon, 8-2.
Lynchburg found success in the doubles event as the duo of Kosiorek and Lima cruised to two victories while the pairing of Wonderling and Hair tallied a victory of their own.Kosiorek and Lima presented an assertive 6-1 triumph against Lebanon Valley's Nicolette Denbowski and Erika Badner, then followed up with another commanding 6-1 win in the quarterfinals against Bridgewater's Slagle and Kira Doyne. Wonderling and Hair matched up against Shenandoah's Erin Talko and Samantha Calvert in the round of 16 and defeated the SU squad, 6-2.Â
The women's tennis squad has had a strong fall season thus far and will look to carry its momentum into a scrimmage against Randolph on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the WildCats' campus at 4 p.m.
