Salem, Va. – The University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams continued their successful start to the 2025-2026 campaign at the Finn Pincus Invitational in Salem, Va. and Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., posting several personal bests and a new women's 300m school record against local competition.
While the majority of Lynchburg's team traveled to Roanoke College for the Finn Pincus Invitational, a handful faced Division I opponents at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House.
Finn Pincus Invitational (Salem, Va.)
Senior Rylee Turner posted her first indoor school record for the Hornets with a 42.03 performance in the women's 300m to finish third in the field. Madelyn Boyce continued the momentum with a 43.31 fifth-place effort.Â
For the men, Isaiah Davis submitted 36.69 for fifth, while James Young earned ninth place in 38.04 fashion.
Micah Leech leaped to the ninth-best result in Division III in the men's long jump, setting a personal-best mark of 23' 6¼" (7.17m). Demetri Hinton also earned a PR with a sixth-place performance for 22' 3½" (6.79m)Â
The pair of Hornets also submitted top-five triple jump marks; Hinton posted 46' 7½" (14.20m) for second, while Leech traveled 46' ½" (14.03m) for fourth. Â
Samaria Little led the charge in the women's 600m, besting the field with a 1:45.21 personal-best performance. Parker Marshall clinched second place in the men's 600m with a 1:23.73 mark, while Blake Henson clocked 1:28.72 for fifth.
Charlotte Bunting, in her second race for the Hornets, registered a 2:33.12 performance in the women's 800-meter run for second, while Annalise Williams clocked 2:37.03 for fourth in her first 800m since the 2024 outdoor season.
Brianna Taylor and Michael Coley narrowly missed the finals cut in the 60-meter dash semifinals as the pair secured personal-best finishes.
Taylor cruised to an 8.09 result in prelims and an 8.06 performance in the semifinal to place tenth. On the men's side, Coley clocked a personal-best 7.19 in the first round and 7.25 in the semifinal for 16th place.
Antaveon Steele finished fourth in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals with an 8.54 time in finals, though he clocked 8:47 in the preliminary round.
Aidan Hipp shared the men's high jump victory with Eastern Mennonite's Ahsan Abul-Qasim, topping the 6' 5" (1.96m) bar. Margo Fox claimed the outright individual victory on the women's side, as the pentathlete posted a 5' 1" (1.55m) performance.
In other field events, Kacey Kelly placed third in the women's triple jump (37' 5" or 11.40m) and fifth in the women's long jump (16' 10½" or 5.14m), while Kenzie Swicegood placed fourth in the women's shot put (36' 10½" or 11.24m) and fifth in the women's weight throw (47' 2½" or 14.39m). Â

Virginia Tech Invitational (Blacksburg, Va.)
In the women's 800m, Hannah Edwards battled to a 2:18.33 fourth-place performance, improving four seconds from her Burg Open mark of 2:22.98.
Lamont Victoria elevated to second place out of 14 in the men's high jump, clearing the 6' 7" (2.02m) bar. The senior transfer has earned a podium finish in each of his three events as a Hornet.

The Hornets continue their indoor season next weekend as action commences from the Brant Tolsma Invitational at Liberty University on Friday, Jan. 23.
