La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field teams will conclude their season at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis. on May 21-23 as seven athletes hope to secure All-American finishes and points for team standings.

Four athletes enter Thursday boasting top-five marks in Division III, while the Lynchburg men's team looks to mimic its NCAA Indoors fifth-place performance. In addition, Lamont Victoria and Chasen Hunt enter the competition having claimed previous DIII national titles.

Meet Schedule

Several track prelims, field event finals and combined events will open the meet on Thursday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EST. Micah Leech will compete in five of his 10 decathlon events throughout the day, while Alex Jordan races in the lone track final of the day, the men's 10,000-meter run, at 9:15 p.m.

On Friday, Lamont Victoria and Jamarcus Brown will aim to claim podium finishes in the men's high jump. The duo enters the meet as the top two seeds in the nation, having cleared 7' 1" (2.16m) at the Vertklasse Meeting earlier in the season.

Victoria and Brown's 7' 1" mark sits inside the top 40 for NCAA athletes across all divisions. At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Victoria finished second in the event with a 6' 11½" (2.12m).

The remaining finals take place on Friday, beginning at noon.

Weather

High temperatures will settle into the 60s throughout the three-day event, with potential rainfall arriving in western Wisconsin in the latter days of the competition. Friday currently holds the highest chance of precipitation at 43 percent.

Situated off the banks of Lake Michigan, the wind gusts could also impact runners down the straightaways. Gusts could reach between 10 and 15 mph throughout the meet, causing disturbances for sprint times on the home straightaway.

Facility

Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, the home track & field facility for Wisconsin-La Crosse, holds 6,250 fans and was originally purchased in 1987. The Eagles are hosting the NCAA Championships for a fifth time, which will be the first since 2018.

Jumping events will take place inside the oval, while throwing pits are located adjacent to the second curve.

Setting the Standard

At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Victoria claimed 18 points for the men's team standings and became the first Hornet to ever earn the 60-meter dash national title. He returns as the lone Hornet to be seeded in the top five of multiple events, including first in the high jump and fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Between the indoor and outdoor seasons, the senior transfer claimed six Old Dominion Athletic Conference titles and a runner-up finish in the outdoor high jump. Throughout the season, he has rewritten all-conditions program bests in the 100m and 200m.

Track Events

At the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Chasen Hunt crossed the line in 14:10.51 to secure the men's 5,000m national title. Weeks before, he made history with a 13:41.96 finish at the Bryan Clay Invitational to seal the Division III national record, a mark that still stands today.

In eight races on the national stage, Hunt has raced to eight All-American honors in Hornets threads. Most recently, the senior placed fourth in the men's 3,000m at the NCAA Indoor Championships, while he earned the conference title in the men's 1,500m (3:56.09).

In just his second NCAA Championships on the track, Alex Jordan will compete in both the men's 5,000m and men's 10,000m this weekend. His 29:50.18 result is just the second time in Lynchburg history under the 30-minute mark, and he enters Thursday as the newly crowned ODAC champion in the men's 5,000m.

At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Jordan placed sixth in the 5,000m for All-American honors with a 14:11.99 performance.

Field Events

As a two-time first team All-American, Jamarcus Brown enters the men's high jump looking to improve upon a 14th-place result at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Brown claimed his third ODAC title this spring, and he has cleared 6' 10" in four competitions.

Brown's track & field success complements his abilities on the basketball court, where he earned ODAC Defensive Player of the Year Honors to cap the 2025-2026 season.

Making his NCAA Championships debut, Demetri Hinton took advantage of last-chance meets by setting a dominant personal-best 48' 3¼" (14.71m) mark in the men's triple jump. While the nationals cutoff is officially 14.64m, Hinton had not leaped past 14.29m before his prolific performance at Mount Olive.

The sophomore enters Saturday as the 16th seed in the 22-man field.

In her senior campaign, Kacey Kelly nearly matched the triple jump mark that landed her a podium finish at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, leaping 40' 2" (12.24m) for fourth in Division III. Kelly will make her sixth NCAA appearance, and she has recorded three top-10 marks on the big stage.

In addition to her 4x100m relay and 400-meter hurdle appearances, Kelly's triple jump performances have steadily progressed throughout the season. The NCAA Championships will mark her first time competing in the triple jump in nearly a month, although it will be the final performance of her Lynchburg career.

Decathlon

Despite making his NCAA Indoor Championships debut in May, Micah Leech totaled a personal-best 5,103 points in the men's heptathlon to lock fifth place in Division III. The junior needed just one decathlon mark during the outdoor season to qualify for NCAAs: a 6,712-point mark for 10th in the nation.

At the ODAC Outdoor Championships, Leech secured five top-ten finishes throughout a multitude of events, including second place in the men's javelin. He has also registered personal bests in the javelin (171' 3" or 52.20m) and pole vault (15' 1" or 4.60m) during the outdoor campaign.
