FOREST, Va. --Â The University of Lynchburg men's tennis duo of Richards Spaks and
Jorge Patricio Zepeda has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Doubles Pair of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Lynchburg competed in four matches over the past week at the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, S.C. The Hornets claimed victories in three contests, defeating Clark 5-2, Lebanon Valley 7-0, and Gordon 6-1, while falling to Saint Francis 5-2.
The tandem opened the week with a 6-4 doubles victory over Clark, while Spaks also recorded a two-set sweep in his singles match. The ensuing contest against Lebanon Valley followed a similar script, as the pair again secured a 6-4 doubles win. Spaks added another strong performance in singles, capturing a sweep in the No. 1 position.
In Lynchburg's lone loss of the week against Saint Francis, Spaks and Zepeda continued their strong play, notching another doubles victory together in a 6-4 decision.
To wrap up the road stand, Spaks and Zepeda delivered their most dominant performance of the week in Hilton Head, earning a 6-2 doubles victory over Gordon. Spaks also recorded another sweep in the No. 1 singles position.
Lynchburg returns to conference action this weekend, traveling to Averett on Sunday, March 15.
