Forest, Va. -- After a career-best outing of four goals and one assist in an 8-1 victory over Susquehanna, the University of Lynchburg field hockey forward
Anna Dorrestijn was anointed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
All four of Dorrestijn's scores came before the halftime intermission. The first three goals of the outing were all by the hands of the Netherlands native. Her first two tallies hit the back of the cage in the first period, then she sandwiched goals between one from
Fenna den Bieman, which came off a dish from Dorrestijn. She owned the first half and allowed the Hornets to coast to an assertive victory.Â
The 2024 First Team All-ODAC member had just two goals on the season coming into the competition. With her exceptional performance, she was awarded the first conference player of the week nod for the team this season. The forward now has three ODAC Player of the Week awards across her three-year collegiate career, one from 2024 and another from 2023.Â
Dorrestijn and the Hornets are preparing for a top-25 clash against No. 14 York this Saturday, Sept. 27 that will take place on Sweet Briar's campus at noon.
