National champs!

The 2014 Lynchburg College women's soccer team made history as the first Hornets team to ever win an NCAA Division III championship, defeating Williams in penalty kicks Saturday, December 6 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo. The team finished the season unbeaten, 27-0-1, and laid claim to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title. Its 27 wins remain a program record and are tied for the NCAA Division III record. The program-best 122 goals the Hornets scored during the season rank sixth in Division III history. The team's 23 shutouts are also a program record.

LC racked up the national awards as forward Angela Bosco earned NSCAA Division III player of the year honors and head coach Dr. Todd Olsen was named the division's top coach by the NSCAA. Dessi Dupuy joined Bosco as an All-American, and Bosco won the All-State and ODAC player of the year awards. Freshman Emily Maxwell was named the national tournament's most outstanding defensive player, and Maxwell also won the All-State and ODAC rookie of the year awards.
