Lynchburg Sports Hall of Fame
A standout cross country and track & field runner, Frank Csorba amassed an impressive array of accolades. A six-time All-American, his honors include the 2024 DMR National Championship and multiple All-ODAC and ODAC Champion titles across both sports. Csorba placed 14th overall with an 8k time of 24:43.1 at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships, the best finish in the ODAC since former Hornet Ricky Flynn won the national championship in 2009. His finish helped his team to an ODAC-record ninth place finish. He was a crucial member of the program in three national cross country qualifications and earned two ODAC Runner of the Year honors in 2022 and 2023. His record time in the 8k of 23:50.6 is an ODAC record and ranks 13th in the NCAA Division III all-time records. He was dominant in the track and field space as he holds Lynchburg's program records in the outdoor 5k and 10k, and the indoor 3k and DMR. His 5k outdoor time of 13:56.44 ranks 11th all-time in NCAA Division III history. With nine-time USTFCCCA All-Region selections and multiple state awards, his performance set a high standard not just for Lynchburg runners, but across all collegiate competitions. He drastically improved his performance from his time in highschool throughout his career at Lynchburg. As he progressed with the Hornets, his ability became that of a superstar athlete. Csorba tragically passed away in April 2024.
