University of Lynchburg men's indoor track & field student-athletes Frank Csorba, Jacob Hodnett, Sam Llaneza, and Chasen Hunt won the national championship in the distance medley relay at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. Csorba sat patiently in the pack until the last lap of the 1200-meter leg before closing down a large lead on MIT, effectively handing off in 2nd with the Hornets in striking distance. Hodnett ran an impactful PR in the 400-meter to keep the squad close behind MIT. Llaneza managed to drop just one position on his 800 leg, which kept the team within striking distance, despite running his 800-meter prelim just hours before the competition, where he placed third to qualify for the final on time. Heading into Chasen's leg, the Hornets were on the backs of Emory with MIT just seconds ahead. Chasen snagged the lead with 400 meters to go and opened up a large gap over MIT and created separation from the rest of the pack. Lynchburg's 9:47.17 is an NCAA championship-meet record. The Hornets had control of the race throughout the competition and successfully achieved victory.
